Barcelona is a city in Spain and the capital of the autonomous region of Catalonia. The city of Barcelona has 1,6 million citizens and is the biggest city of Spain after Madrid. Barcelona is very well known for its architects, artist and painters like Antoni Gaudi. The city has many important sites and monuments which became worldwide known after the Summer Olympics of 1992. Main places to visit are the Barri Gotic (Gothic medieval quarter of the city), La Sagrada Familia (the cathedral by Antoni Gaudi and still not finished), Montjuic with the funicular, Barceloneta beach and Park Guell.
Barcelona is one of the most visited cities in the world and has 6 million tourists a year. Moreover, the city is well known for it’s sport clubs in soccer (Stadium Camp Nou) and basketball.
